These images are sketches for a video piece of my father building a snow fort. I gave him a shovel and a chair and asked him to build a small snow fort in our New Hampshire backyard. Those were my only instructions, though I did tell him he could smoke a pipe if he wished.

Through the video I discuss the idea of homebuilding as being inherently fragile and temporal, just as even the most tightly-packed snow will eventually lost its structure and melt. As I've grown older, I've learned that my father is not invincible, nor is the home he created for me permanent and impenetrable. The house of snow video attempts to discuss this complex and difficult realisation in a humorous, light-hearted manner.
