These images were the first pictures I made with a 4x5 camera. I received a small grant from RISD to photograph in northwestern Iowa and exhibit the images to a New England audience. When I left New Hampshire for college in Iowa I became aware that many New Englanders -- perhaps intimidated by the open landscape -- felt there was little that was beautiful in the Midwest. This project aimed to check that assumption and share some of the landscapes I'd come to admire during my years living in Iowa.
